I'm trying to connect to newcamd server which needs particularly an mgcamd client. Can this be done? I'm currently using Acamd on DVBViewer.

As of the last version, NewCS does not support windows anymore.

....

Cheers!

Hi,
I am searching for something similar to mgcamd on windows.
Why? Simple - to profit of NewCS chameleon2 features linking NewCS server together. (regardless of the hosting platform of newcs)

Does anyone know if chameleon2 is working with another cam than mgcamd to make use of this feature. (Any newcamd capable will work but only for locals and not cham2... stated by the NewCS RC1 1.66 doc)

Any news on that?

thanks for your answers...

cheers

No, only mgcamd supports whatever undocumented newcamd protocol extensions are used by newcs for the chameleon2 access. This isn't likely to change unless someone wants it enough to reverse-engineer the solution and publish it (thereby allowing it to be added to all the countless other newcamd clients).

@ bowmancsp:

Thanks for your clear answer. But why reverse engineering? Does the NewCS team not want to have their fuctions supported by other cams... I would describe the chameleon2 feature as powerful and "clean" sharing method allowing to have a low but good amount of "quality" cards...
How can this not be desired or willing to be spreaded?

cheers

People have asked about it repeatedly on the newcs forum and to my knowledge there has been no reply (but the team doesn't seem to be very active there so it's possible it just hasn't been noticed).

You could go ahead and try yourself.

FYI: I have reverse-engineered the mgcamd <-> newcs extensions, and I'm considering whether its worth the effort to add parts of this to csp.

To do this I will probably need assistance from someone who actually uses a chameleon setup with at least 2 cards, and has an interest in seeing the extensions documented and added to other newcamd-clients. Anyone up for it?
