acamd or gboxplugin? - 24-June-2008, 09:25

I am trying to get my pc to connect to a remote gbox share and have followed Shalafi's gbox with MP guide. I have it connecting to the share and clearing channels, but there are regular glitches and small freezes so it is not usable. Using the same config files on my dreambox the picture does not freeze.

I am not sure if this is caused by settings that need to be different on the pc from the dream, or the mdapi or gboxplugin modules. My internet connection is not that fast (only 0.5mb) but it works on the dream ok. The card I am accessing on the share is at share level 1 and there is no local card in my setup.

To test this out I have installed dvbviewer. I will follow the guide to get gboxplugin working with it and try that to see if it performs better or the same as in mediaportal, but I also came across a few discussions on acamd.

How can I install acamd with dvbviewer or mediaportal to test this out, and what format should the gbox line be in to connect? Would love to test this out to see if it performs any better.

Thanks

bob
