Home theater PC ??? - 11-February-2008, 21:31

Hello,

i'm thinking of assembling a home theater pc, to have one machine that is pc, hdtv receiver, dvd recorder, dvd and ble ray player, radio player, cd player...
like an all in one solution for the living room.

the question is if the dvd-s2 cards are cs capable, especialy for htpc operating systems, like media center.

any info is welcomed

Dino7777,

I'v made some test with hauppauge 4000, sapphire 3850 & progdvb, it works well but the solution is not user friendly (not for my wife nor for my dougther.)

I'm a big fan of the FireDTV and FloppyDTV DVB-S2 cards. It has a cam module in it and it's supported in many HTPC related software (including Media Center, DVBViewer Pro and Mediaportal).

hi,

building a linux htpc running mythtv is a very user friendly alternative, and you can do CS too.

This is my main interest now: exploring the cs possibilities of mythtv. Would anyone be willing to share some insight to this matter? Mythtv folx are too eager about this stuff.
