So how about somebody taking the time to tell us newbies how to setup the SkyStar HD in a windows based PC how to use it for cardsharing? What software do you need and how best to configure it if you have access to a cardsharing server. Thank you.

Check the Gbox with DVBViewer howto. It's a tutorial how to setup Gbox cardshare protocol in combination with DVBViewer and Gbox plugin.

Mediaportal tutorial with Gbox will come up shortly. Just have to check certain things, stability wise.

Can someone confirm the differences between a Skystar HD and a Technotrend S2-3200?

There's no difference. A Skystar HD is a rebranded Technotrend S2-3200. A Skystar HD2 and TerraTec Cinergy S2 PCI HD CI is a rebranded Azurewave AD-SP400 CI.

In short, you have the following PCI based devices:

- Technisat Skystar HD/Technotrend S2-3200
- Terratec Cinergy S2 PCI HD CI/Technisat Skystar HD2/Azurewave AD-SP400 CI/Twinhan VP-1041
- KNC1 DVB-S2 TV Station/KNC1 DVB-S2+ TV Station/Satelco DVB-S2 TV Station/Satelco DVB-S2 Easywatch
- Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-4000/Hauppauge WinTV-NOVA-HD-S2

And some other unknow brands who use the Sharp one-chip-tuner. However, support for these cards are bad in many types of software.

I have very good results with KNC1/Satelco based cards. They are cheap and work without problems in most DVB Software. And they are supported in Linux to.

I have a question about dvb viewer pro version 3940 in combination with gbox.
I installed the gbox_dvbviewer_pack.zip for dvb viewer version3910.
After installing the gbox pack the program is not working anymore.
Before it was ok.
Is there an another version gbox_dvbviewer_pack for dvb viewer 3940?

Some one experiance with it?
