Humax and CCcam - 25-December-2007, 11:27

Looking around the net I saw that it is possible to use CCcam with DVB pc cards by using Mythtv or vdr.
So, I wondered if it is possible to use it also with Humax. Anyone knows something about that?
Clearly, I am talking about using a linux pc running CCcam connected to the Humax.

yes its possible to run cccam on pc

no its not possible to use cccam on pc to descrable humax channels

CCCAM a brief explanation

CCCam has a fatal flaw in my view , the fact that it only fully interfaces with
other CCCam servers , any other protocol it can only act as a client

by using a clever hack to read the tmp files generated its possible to feed a
newcamd channel and in theory a humax too however for the humax to work
somebody needs to code a linux pipe / binary converter in order to translate
the capmt info into humax HSIC or SSSP protocol

humax can only support 2 sharing protocols these are

1. HSIC (supported by many newcamd servers / clients )
2. SSSP (supported by gbox)

its only when cccam provides HSIC or SSSP support via the RS232 port (just
like gbox does) that the humax will be fully supported by cccam

until then u can either recompile the HSIC.c source into a capmt compatible version or you can buy a DM

by the way... newcamd and other emus provide the source code hence adding full 2 way support to cccam for other protocols is really easy only problem is cccam DOES NOT release source code.. never has

it is obvious to me that the cccam team does not want cccam to fully support anything other than another cccam , to implement full compatibility with humax / pci cards / newcamd / gbox would be real easy....
both the newcamd and the hsic sources are freely available and easy to
implement at source level.

i hope this explanation clears things up for u
