another router problem

hi people
i have a question about a router problem, my father has a sitecom WL160 broadband router (only wired connected with the dreambox and pc) and it keeps falling out. the dreambox is working correct even like the computer. he can surf on the internet for hours and then it falls out, just like that. i contacted the internet provider and no problem there. i brought it back to where we bought the router and the man that sold us the router has installed a new firmware, but no result, it keeps falling out. it is correct programmed for use with dreambox with a programmer who helped me with this and he didn't have a clew what is going on. does anybody has an idea what to do?

my tip sounds a bit strange, but try to downgrade the firmware.

my brother has got a fritzbox. it freezes every 20 minutes. new firmwares brought no changes.
after he made an downgrade it works fine.

strange but true.

try it.

what do you have to do when the router "drops down" ?
do you have to restart the router?

how is the internet connected? Is it a usb adsl modem, or the router integrates a modem ? or is it cable?

some more info on that would be useful

Perhaps your router get to hot? I had problems with a router from a friend, because his router stand in front of a heater, so his router cut the connection to lan and internet.

try a different router?

there are routers that cannot handle multiple connections and gets choked... then dies.

I had the same problem with a Sitecom WL-183.

NONE of the original firmwares could fix the problem.

I bought a Linksys (Cisco) instead.
