2 Dreamboxes stolen, is there a tracking option ?? - 08-March-2011, 19:26

Hello,

I have got my own Dreambox working as a server and another.
Last weekend there was a burglar at the other location and everything is stolen, both his dreamboxes, two LCD tv's etc etc...

The most important Dreambox had CCCAM installed.

Is there a way to see or log if the box comes back again ?
The box has a fixed IP at the wireless side but DHCP is enabled at the cabled network.

Hope you guys have some good tips !!

Ronn

my boxes were stolen 3 weeks ago and both have a cline connected to another box of mine which i still have. The lines have not connected yet, so they have probably not connected them to the net yet ! keep a watch out !!

I think the guy who stole them is not stupid enough to try to connect with them as they are, i think the first thing he will do is to give them to someone in the know and they would install a new image and start from scratch, its like people who steal mobile phones, the first thing they do is remove the sim card !!

The box is online at this moment. The police has been notices and they have the ip adress...
Iam able to reach the box with FTP and iam leaving the CCCam line running to keep the thieves from knowing there is something wrong :)

huh,

it looks like in thriller movie, please keep us informed.. :-)
it would be big help if you could telnet to box,
it looks that box is completely visible from internet

try
whois ip_address

you will see his internet provider

try
nmap -P0 ip_address

to see which ports he has open
