Exclamation Flyer19 - Server Broke Down - Offline - 18-March-2010, 01:03

To all my peers:

Tha hoooorrrrror ... my server broke down!

I believe the harddrive is broken (getting all kind of read-errors after restart) and I don't know how to fix it myself, since a friend of mine made the server for me and I only have to maintain it ... I'm trying to get the cfg-file into my DM800 now as a small backup-server, but I don't seem to be able to get that to work either quite yet ...

Please bare with me on this one as I will do my best (in the little time I have this week) to get all up-and-running a.s.a.p. again; thanks!

Kind regards and Happy Sharing,

Flyer19

Getting closer, but not quite there yet - 19-March-2010, 02:09

Dear peers,

I have gotten a new server which a friend of mine set up tonight ... it doesn't user ClarkConnect but regular Ubuntu ... worked fine at my friends place, but when I got home it didn't quite work yet! Since I only slept 2 hours last night trying to get all up-and-running again I'm dead-tired now, so I'll continue Friday evening with the server (with the help of my friend I hope! )

Thank you all for your patience and hopefully we can all share again soon!

For now ...

Thumbs up no joy on being online again ... - 20-March-2010, 04:22

I took the new server back to my friends place tonight and we re-installed everything ... all works perfect there (I can connect to all my peers, my peers not to me 'cause my DNS only works at home) ... but as soon as I hook it up at home again (like I just did 30 minutes ago) NOTHING works ... very frustrating! Since it is 04:21 now, I can't call him, so the story will continue tomorrow ...

I know one thing: as soon as I have all up-and-running again, I will make a WORKING backup-server, in case sh*t like this ever happens again; just hope I'll have some peers left after this ordeal! ...

Oh, and by-the-by, it is a Debian-server, not Ubuntu ...

Hope to post my final message on this subject this weekend stating all is up-and-running again ... not quite yet though I'm afraid!
