Dear Peers,

My main server just died this morning.

I am trying to set up an alternative server as a backup.

Hope to be back online ASAP.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

OK update:

my main server was on a 7025. The power supply died.

So i transfered on my 8000 all the peers. Now you can share my 2 local cards.

However, I did not manage to transfer all C lines; CCCam seems to crash. So, you my peers, at the moment, you can not get all the reshares yet. I will try to put them on slowly on the server, trying to find the reason why CCCam crashes.

I guess it is really time to buy a pc server.

With a pc server, I will be able to put on one location all my cards. (at the moment, 3 other cards are on a 7020).

Thanks for your understanding and patience.

All the best,

Charly20

I dont have linux pased pc server aswell, on my 800 if i have more then 35 peers, and i restart the ccam, my whole network goes DOWN and i cant go to google.de
it took sometimes 15 minutes to resolve network and everything was working, if u stay below 35 peers on reciver based server its all good

say what?

that's the problem I get: if I put all F lines, it's ok. But if I put all F lines and all C lines, the network just crashes down.

I don't know why.

On the 7025, I did not have that problem.

It's just strange that it happens on the 8000.

The 8000 is more powerful than the 7025, no?

It does not make senses.

It's easier, cheaper and far more powerfull to create a Linuxserver. Use an older PC, a PIII, 1000Mhz with enough Ram will do the trick. These PC costs about 50 euro.... The only 'expensive' items are the number of readers you'll need for your cards.

No it's not strange. It's a known bug which also happens on the 800HD as well. As soon as you're above the 15 or 20 peers (C- and F-lines) your receiver will crash the network. I've had a 800HD in the past which did the exact same thing. IMHO, I think it's because of the chipset, since the same MIPS binary works like a charm on DB7025(+).

Take my advice, use a NSLU2 with OpenSlug 3.10 BE/beta in combination with two smargo's. It's cheap, powerefficient and really stable.

@karolina
Ok, first. This is my personal opinion and not really based on personal experience.

Maximum cards should be around 200~250 on hop1/hop2. The DB7000 or DB7020 will work just fine for cardsharing. But the small problem is, the DB7000 and/or DB7020 will have responsive problems as soon as you hit above the 25 or 50 peers.

Let me explain, it'll start but CCcam will take a long while to load. Somebody here had a 15 minute startup of CCcam when using 75 peers on his DB7020 and during that time it had a high CPU usage and it's a bit unresponsive and reacts slowly to telnet commands. As soon as it's started, it'll work as expected. But a CCcam.cfg change will do the same thing again and make the receiver 'hang' since it reloads the CCcam configuration.

The reason why I use a NSLU2, is because it's much faster as a server while having the low-wattage compared to a DB based receiver. Currently I have 200 ~ 250 cards on hop1/hop2 (imho, the max number of cards you should use. Above this numer is quite nonsense), with 45 peers and dito server connections. Startup time is within 30 seconds and all is up and running. Max usage is 10W~15W and there fore it's really nice to have it running 24/7 without the high costs compared to a Linux based X86 PC. Also, with the NSLU2 you can add multiple smargo's using a USB-hub.

And you're welcome concerning the script. That script helps me running my NSLU2 really nice and smooth so why not tell others about this, right?
