losing my peers one after one - 15-November-2008, 17:53

i am getting mad i am losing my peers one after one i had fifty it went down to 7 now, has someone hacked my box or is there a problem ,what can i do

ok i am progressing now i think

when i logged to my dyndns account i found out someone log in on 12 nov and deleted my dyndns hostname

but for whatever reason i cannot recover it what can i do

Make a new one and inform your peers. The only thing you can do.
Consider taking a paid account, so you can't loose your host anymore...

Looks like someone might be using your dyndns host name, if they logged on to your accound deleted the line and then created the same one in their own profile voila, but that means you would loose all lines not some of them.
They would all just go at once.
So maybe the problem is somewhere else. might be good to send a email to your dyndns provider and tell them about the incident.
I wouldnt mention the peers on your server however :)

i ve taking a paid account with dyndns about 11 dollars per year and i ve changed my password i ve created a new hostname that i am trying to send to my old peers but i found out that i dont have details msn for all of them so i may not recover all of them

about contacting dyndns about the incident i dont know how i can do that and will it help in any way

First what you need to do is to close port 21,23 and 80 at your server because somebody can take inadyn file from you or some other file and find passwords.
If you not have acces at your dyndns page you will need to make new account make new dyndns and inform all your peers to change lines and also can ask tham which IP use your old dyndns and report that IP to admins probably is IP of some comercial servers.
I dont think you can do something alse.

i did get hold of my dyndns account and created a new hostname which i am trying to send to my old peers and of course i ve changed the password to access my dyndns account and also i ve taken un upgrade for 1 year
i have no idea who is using my old hostname
are you sure i need to close port 21 23 80 could you be more specific because i think i may need those ports

That port are used to connect from outside your ip ans is better to be closed.
