Server Issues - 23-March-2009, 14:48

Hi all,

I am unable to keep my server continously on 24/7 for reasons I am trying to find out. I will be contacting my ISP in due course to try and find out whats going wrong.

I thought i best write this thread to clarify this issue as some of my previous posts do state I am on 24/7.

Thanks in advance

Darth.

Dear All,

Its taken me some time to find out my server problems but I now know what the issue is and would like to share this with you to avoid anyone else having to go through the pain barrier which has been nearly 1 year!!!

To keep things short, basilcally my server was working for a couple of hours at a time and then simply loosing its connection,

I tried re-booting,reseting and everything on my router to get it back up and running again...this worked ok to start with but then after a few hours i lost connection again.

My ISP (mentioning no names but who also provide digital tv LOL) did a check on my line and said all is ok! ;-(

My next test was to remove all dyndns info and put everything back to how it was.

This proved to work ok internet wise but obviously no server. so had to manuallykeep putting dyndns when wanted server and manually remove it when wanted internet.

I then went and purchased several routers in the last few months and after my 4th purchase! I began tot think that the routers are ok! at it could be an issue with phone line.

I then get several engineers in to checkl line as was alsogetting interferance on phones during calls.

all was ok:-) 7 months passed and was now at breakdown point lol.

Anyway, cutting long story short I went out and purchased the very latest router the other week which was high speed wireless N.

When I came to set this up using wizard itdid not work at all...I did a search on web, to find out annoyingly after many months that with my ISP, again not mentioning any you can not use any other equipment other than that they provide you, so if u want wireless n its basically tough.

I d manage to get this router through a source, if anyone wants a link please PM me which enables you to use your own equipment on there service but it is really a waste of time, as once they noticed the change they reset it which disconnects you.

In short any changes I had made were being reset by ISP pulse as they have main contol over router so anyone who is withthem be warned!!!!

I have now been looking at a mobile dongle torun a sepearte B/B line purely for my HD boz but these are only 3mbps...does anyone know if that is too slow?

Ionly just resnewed BB a month back so dont wanna cancel as will cost2 much.

Rgards

Darth!
