How to be a good sharing partner - 07-January-2008, 00:38

Hello all,

i started with sharing some weeks ago, so i would still call myself a newb. I tried to find any posts how a good peer should look like or what should anyone keep in mind if he share, but without success. Therefore i've decided to create this topic and invite everyone here to paricipate to help every newb here.

Here is my personal list:
- always tell the truth about your shared cards; othewise you will lost your sharing partners very fast
- be 24x7 online, if you are not able to do so, tell it
- do not share 'Level 0' cards (more gbox related?)
- avoid frequent cam restarts

I would very much appreciate your comments and suggestions!

Cheers, -luca

Hello community,

good to see that my account here is still active, after such aggressive reaction i expected an immediate ban. I believe it is fair that i provide my point of view too, as datamessy just picked "important points".

First: "BS story": i would ask you to threat me with the same respect as i did, we are here not in a kindergarten. Thank you.

Yes, i have provided a C-line first, and yes, i have asked for an IP or DNS as i need to enable all my peer on the firewall first. No, i did not asked for a Cline, i just offered datamessy to test my peer/cards. I neither beg for something nor i got connected without providing a connection from my side. Yes, i limit minimum version to 2.1.1, which i just due to safety reasons. Nothing else.

I am not a card hunter and i wait for an explanation from you why you called me liar in public and blamed me for nothing.

Regarding 2 days being offline:
- connection enabled by datamessy tonight GMT+1 (not tested, got this information from his post), i restart automatically and connect at GMT+3
- he contacted me at 8 in the morning asking why i am playing games with him
- i replied him at 9 at explained that i will not share with him due to 2.0.9

Would be nice if you start explaining what i did not explained to you.

Finally, i would like to see other admins read this topic and provide their statements. I believe you have access to all private mails and are able to judge the situation i a fair manner.

One more thing: i believe these two rules are in conflict atm:

4) The Administrators and Moderators are always right.

13) It is strictly forbidden to swear or use foul language.

Cheers, -luca

I thing good server would be small DM server or big linux server. Dm with few clients can be stable and doesnt need canstant restarts.

I prefer linux Pc server. I am runnig P4 ubuntu server with ~100 peers, 100+ dist 1 cards. I took few months picking my peers, all my peers are very good and stable. Today my server runs for months without a single restart. I dont add more peers and there is no problem with the server, it just runs and runs and runs... no reason to restart it. Only problems I get is if there is some sort of ips problems and that does not happen very often. :-)

When you build your server, dont hurry - do it right. If you dont like a peer, dont share with him. A good server can run for months, even years without any problems.

@ Luca

As you say, you have been running a server for a few weeks, and although because you have got it working, you may think thats all there is too it!
Unfortunatley, there is a lot more to it than that, including, common courtesy, patience, and a degree of etiquette. For example, in this case you requested a line from someones server, when doing that, you accept their rules, if you dont agree, then dont ask!
Also disconnecting without notification is highly insulting, and will do nothing more that upset your peers. If CCcam 2.0.9 is not acceptable, then email first and explain, then this can be resolved without animosity.
Above all, you should look to build a server with peers who you can trust, and over time you will create a bond with these peers, and will be happy to help each other and consider them friends. This cannot be done overnight, sometimes many years.
Choose your peers carefully. A lot of newbies make the mistake of sharing with anyone, and soon discover they spend more time configuring, than watching. Many will be fakes and liars, some will be unreliable, and a few will be payservers. After time you will be better enabled to spot a good and bad peer, but this only comes with experience and cannot be gained overnight.

Just my opinion

i will jump in here...

being that " datamessy " sent me both sides of the story!

first of all @ luca...>> communication is the key...here... you both exchanged lines...and you connected one sided..without any explanation.

this is definatly not nice behavior..you could have wrote a pm explaing you dont like to share with this version cccam , and the problem would have been solved before it started...

here " datamessy " is not stating you are a liar..or faker..he says for HIM people...that behave in this manner are.

appearently you did not communicate...i have read all emails.. i would suggest you include what versions cccam you use or dont use in your pms.

" datamessy " i know...for a fact..can not read minds , and only seen your side offline.... and no info explaing why...until he asked..

myself...when i have any problem with a peer...i communicate first...then delete lines..this i think is the only way.

as far as
4) The Administrators and Moderators are always right....lmao this isnt going to change...

13) It is strictly forbidden to swear or use foul language....i have read the 2 mails.. " datamessy " wrote to you... no where is the use of such language..

my 2 cents...>>

luca ...you need to communicate with your peers BEFORE deleting them ..

" datamessy "... lmao...take a valium...

You are absolutely right, this happened. But again: automatic restart was in the night (you know the reason, if you red the private communication) and i saw it first in the morning, that his server is not connected to my. And i reacted immediately. And i have a private life, which is far more important that sharing some keys.

It is not necessary to say everything directly, someone can read between the lines.

Right and this is what i always do. This time I overreacted, but:
- i do not like if someone i don't know offend me with such kind of language like datamessy did ... <-snip-> your cocckk & bull story <-snap-> ... at least i could expect something like this from an immature person, but never from a moderator in this forum
- i was unsure how he would react if i stay connected to him and continue the discussion, so i disconnected from him immediately. Latter communication was anyway not possible, because:
excerpt from his last PM
<-snip->
dont write me back... ever-..>
it will be deleted and treated as breaking rule 18/19
<-snap->

Cheers, -luca

Please look at the date of my first post, I am not a newbee (anymore). I would like to state here again (my PM is in the post of datamessy): i wrote him that i remove him because of 2.0.9 - i never kick someone without a notice!

Cheers, -luca
