Angry my big headache with server crashing ! - 09-April-2009, 02:30

hi everyone !

1st of all i have a celeron 3.33ghz processor , 2gb ram, and am running clarkconnect server on it .

this has been running perfect with no reboots until 3 days ago!
all of a sudden all my peers /servers dissapear from my web interface ! and get disconnected.

i upgraded my internet speed about the same time to 8mb .

in my intrusion detection module in clarkconnect it gave me an ip of 1 of the servers i share with as an attacker! and me the victim.

i have known the person to speak to for a few months and is a nice guy and seems very straight with me, so i am not suspecting him ( even though my reports say so)

tonight i logged my router /modem and on several occasions i noticed the adsl disconnect aswell!

here is a copy of the log from my router tonight ( but please ignore the wrong login to router as that was my mistake)

THE LOG IS LATEST TO OLD

is it someone hacking my server and is it possible ???

if someone knows dont hesitate to pm me please !
before i loose all my freinds/peers/servers!

i have now formatted the server 4 times and reinstalled in the last few days but the problem doesnt seem to go away !
and always seems to happen at the night time not day !

1. concerning dates changing, nothing to be worried as you will notice in the log

As for the other problem, i see them all related:
1. your peers are offline because you are not conencted to internet
2. your internet is down because you are not connected to the internet
=> you are not connected because:
PAP authentication failure

this is the adsl authentication
contact your adsl provider and recheck your l/p details that you would need to configure in the modem

that's my understanding from the logs

cheers

thanks hamster !

i worked that out aswell , i understood it wasnt a problem with my peers after looking in my router !

3 days ago i upgraded my internet and thats when the problems started !

this morning i have been to my isp and downgraded my connection

the problen was the isp
when i checked in my router the noise margin it was going as low as 2 db!!!

the noise margin all depends on the distance from the isp server !
so i am out of luck ! everytime the n/margin dropped it disconnected !

everything seems ok now ! we will see today ...

thanks for your prompt reply and help .......

( i am actually considering moving closer to the isp !!! )

edited:

my speed has been downgraded 1 grade and the noise margin has increased to 9db now! so it runs faster at a lower speed !

interesting as now i have alot less ( nearly zero freezing now!)
