New router - cuts out once a day disconnecting clients... - 12-August-2009, 20:45

Just got a new router, Netgear DG834G v.5.

Works fine, except it seems to cut out off all of my "incoming clients" once per day. I can connect to my peers fine 24/7. I have to reset my router to fix it. Can't think what could be causing it.

Any ideas?

Have you tried upgrading the firmware?

Usually it's because the router cannot handle all the active connections.
Do you have a lot of clients?
Perhaps a lot of cards online?

I currently have (max) 13 clients on a DM600... is that within the realms of normality?

Just a thought, do you do anything else with the router that invloves large amounts of udp packets such as edonkey? Some routers really don't like mass udp and can cause them to come to a halt.

that's not to much.. I had +100 peers without any problems.
Do you have anything else running that might consume a lot of resources? (like stated above me edonkey or torrent ? )

if u have a dynamic ip--> you will be disconnected every 24 hrs..

and recieve a new ip-->> thus..disconnecting is normal..

your dns ..needs a couple of minutes to get new ip...and resend to peers..

if you restart your router-.-> manualy ..say @ 4 -5 am..>> then most ips..> then use this time..to restart everyday...>>

just a tipp...
