sky card - 12-March-2010, 19:41

Hello peeps

I have a sky box downstairs which is on my dads account. I have cancelled sky on his account and started a new account on my name so i can have a wire installed in my bedroom by the engineer. I will obviously recive a new card with my new hd box.

To set up the dm500s will i need to use the new card or can i use the card which was on my dads account downstairs. I have read that tthe card will be deactivated so will be of no use. I dont really want to use the new card as i will leave that card in my sky hd box to let the subscription run.

I would prefer to use the card that will be deactivated.

Plus is there any risk involved in me using the deactivated card to set up cs to view encrypted channels like sky sports.

I have also heard you can use a freecardsharing server so there may not be any need for me to subscribe to sky at all

By me connecting to a freecardsharing server that means i dont need a card in my dm500s right?

Also if i am a client on the freecardsharing server do i need to connect my dm500s to my router via straight through ethernet cable to watch channels or do i jus connect the sat coax cable coming from the dish?

You cannot use a deactivated card. You must use an active one. There are lots of ways to keep your cards entitlements up to date, use the search button.
As for risks? If your a nervous person, dont get into it.
'freecardsharing server' is another name for a payserver. Discussion about these will not be tolerated here, and you will be instantly banned if found subscribing to one or running one. These will kill this hobby and must be frowned upon by everyone, if we are to continue to enjoy a healthy CS community.

How about the connection of the dm500s?

Do i as a client or host need to connect it via ethernet cable to router to watch channels?

Where is the search button?

If i phone sky and tell them my white sky card in my sky hd box is lost will they send a replacement for free and can i use the card which iv sed is lost in my dm500s to set up watching sports and asian channels.

Do they deactivate the lost card or is it still active?

Also will i be able to use this supposedly lost white card in my dm500s to watch sport and asian channels.

Will the supposedly lost card be deactivated or will it remain active?

lmao..you cannot use a lost or deactivated card, only an active card that is paired to the box.
Yes you will need to be connected via ethernet at all times.

pay the extra 10 a month and get a second card from sky its called multi room , and use that in your dm500s then your parents still have their card . or buy two dm500s and set up a share in your house with the card in your parents dm500s and you sharing up stairs .you would get 2 dm500s for the 120 extra a year you will pay for the second card so its worth thinking about .if your not technical or good with computers you should just get the second card as you would need some computer experience to setup.
