Smile What is your best satellite memmories :) - 29-January-2008, 22:02

Hi.
Well we could have a thread were we could talk about our best satellite moments, old packages you used to watch, old channels that are not around any more that you used to watch. Well, remember the old times when it was easy to watch pay-tv free :)
Well i start:
* My first golden memmory was when i first bought my own dish (2001), i was 12 years old, i bought a old 80cm dish that my dad mounted on the roof and we aimed it on astra 19e, back in the good old days when most thing was free.
* I remember sky uk's analouge channels that broadcasted with "Videocrypt" and sometimes you could watch them for free, i remember i stayd home from school one morning because they sended Cartoon Network UK clear :)
* When i got my second dish, a 60cm that we aimed to 5e, first i watched viasat's and canal digital's channels that were analouge with D2MAC first on old green eeprom cards that looked like pcbs with chip's on them, then i upgraded to the white waffercards then after that the gold cards, that was in the same time as Viasat went digital and we watched it about 3 years with goldcards at first and then funcards, well i miss that Viacess 1 :)
* My realy first memmory, my nabour had a motorized dish that i played with, this was before i got my own and i remember the german Channel RTL2 that broadcasted cool anime shows on the day, so i asked him to record them to VHS when i was in school and he was at the job then he putted that vhs in his mailbox :)

Well, one thing is for sure, the satellite world was funnier when it was analouge. Unfortnantly i wasnt around when everything was on 19e satellite, etc TV1000 and Sky, when they used Eurocrypt :)
Just a old memmory:) :

Hope to hear your memmories of things that were extra special in your satellite time.

Best Regards FSS

*Back in 1990`s when i started playing with my uncle and his setup, used to have a D2MAC decoder and a season interface connected on the pc,running some DOS programs to watch tv1000 and filmnet.(i still have the equipment to remember the good old days)

*When i first got my own dish in 1992 - 80cm with an Aris Analogue receiver and i was trying to get signal without having a clue where the dish should point. After some hours i managed to get different satellites - i marked their positions on the dish mount and when i wanted to watch something i was playing with the marks
