It is with reason made so that you cant log to ECS over proxy. I think you can guess why...

That may be true, but the availability of HTTPs would improve privacy and security here. As it is now, every router between me and your server can read in plain text, what Im typing here and what I write in my PNs.

If its a Linux server, come on. What hassle is it to genereate a self-signed certificate? Takes 10 Minutes top.

Enjoy!

I totally agree with bigbox, it would enhance all users privacy !

And I am able to use ECS through the company proxy, just not secure !

I'm logged in now via proxy.

ECS filters log-ins by IP address. I actually can't guess why ECS would try to block log-ins via proxy, but I'm a bit dense.

If it's so ECS knows where the client is located, https makes it a touch more difficult to mask the client location.

If you are trying to get around a workplace proxy issue and can't install a proxy client, try Kproxy SSL

It's free and allows login. There are also dozens of other similar services that work just as well. Your workplace won't be able to see what you write here unless they use Google.

Someone at ECS must know how to generate self-signed security certificates, since they have already done it
