I am looking for *simple* instructions about how to set up an in-house server to allow cardsharing on my home network. Techie details I can handle - but I just want to see an overview of what is needed.

You need 2 receivers connected to your local network, and handling a sharing protocol like CCcam. The one holding the card (server) should be configured to accept the other one connection. When you switch to a crypted channel, the client tries to find a server with the matching entitlements.
As simple as that.
