AAPT offers Oz broadcasters end-to-end connect, store and transfers

Editor RapidTVNews | 18-06-2012

Australian telecommunications infrastructure company, AAPT has launched a new end-to-end media connect service designed to offer intelligent file movement software for the countrys media and entertainment industry.

Based on software from Signiant, the new infrastructure is claimed to be able to offer Australian broadcast and media companies with a gateway that facilitates rapid, cost-effective content distribution across Australia as well as to and from major media hubs, globally.
The community media network, known as AAPT Media Connect, uses a hosted Signiant service, allowing private and public content exchange or a combination of both. The network will provide a number of models to the market, applicable to all levels and sizes of the media community, with, says the wholly-owned Telecom New Zealand subsidiary, low barriers to entry.

Drawing a typical scenario, AAPT says that a major broadcaster using a tapeless, end-to-end workflow for internal production processes would be able to use AAPT Media Connect as the gateway for the delivery of material, via a DMZ covering both domestic and international distribution and acquisition.

Explained AAPT CEO David Yuile: This partnership builds on our existing agreements with international alliances, enabling users of the AAPT Media Connect service powered by Signiant to exchange content with partners and other creative agencies in major international centres including London and Los Angeles. [The benefits] to the end customer include increased speed, reliability and security of delivery.

Regards,
