AT&T updates U-verse IPTV app for iPad, iPhone - 10-July-2012, 22:00

AT&T's IPTV division has anounced an expanded lineup of functionality and on-demand premium and TV content available through the U-verse app for iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch.

Starting with the content, the app now offers access to HBO, Cinemax, HBO, STARZ, ENCORE, MOVIEPLEX and Music Choice videos. Also, it offers live feeds from FOX News Channel and FOX Business Network.
Meanwhile, subscribers can link an iPad to the U-verse TV receiver to access up-to-the-minute sports companion content and scores from various leagues for the day's games, reviews of yesterday's games, and previews of the next day's action.
Also in the second-screen arena, the app offers social TV functions: the ability to share information about what one is watching with friends on Facebook and Twitter through the AT&T U-verse App for iPad.
The update also extends the ability to control a U-verse TV with a full-featured U-verse remote control with channel, guide, DVR, interactive app and on-demand controls. Previously available only with the AT&T U-verse app for iPad, it has been extended to the iPhone and the iPod Touch.
"The second-screen complements and enhances TV by letting viewers explore and have a deeper experience with the content they care about, on the device they use most," said Jeff Weber, president of content and advertising sales for AT&T Home Solutions. "With our U-verse apps, you can pull up more info about shows, share about what you're watching, and whether you're in or outside the home, you can access compelling content. And it's included as part of your U-verse TV packages."
