BBC Türkçe launches on Turkey’s CNBCe
By Robert Briel
The BBC’s Turkish-language service, BBC Türkçe, has launched a new TV programme, Dünya Ekonomisi (World Economy), which will be broadcast on Turkey’s business channel, CNBCe.
At 17.30 local time, five days a week, 13-minute Dünya Ekonomisi on CNBCe will bring viewers comment, analysis and debate on developments and issues related to the world economy, international business and finance.
BBC Türkçe editor, Murat Nisancioglu, said in a statement: “With the launch of Dünya Ekonomisi, we are enriching our offer for Turkish TV audiences who want to put events and developments in a wider, global context. We hope that as Turkey’s economy is rapidly integrating with the global market, a programme such as Dünya Ekonomisi will be a welcome source of independent economic and financial expertise and reporting.”
CNBCe is the sister channel of the BBC’s long-standing partner in Turkey, NTV, which broadcasts BBC Türkçe’s other daily TV news and current-affairs programme, Dünya Gündemi (World Agenda).
BBC World Service head of business development, Europe and Latin America, Frederick Durman, added: “We are really excited with the launch of Dünya Ekonomisi which means strengthening a successful and longstanding collaboration with a valued Turkish partner.”
Servet Yildirim, editor-in-chief of CNBC-e, said: “We are very happy to be cooperating with a leading global media giant. The content to be provided by BBC Türkçe will strengthen our reputation and leading position in Turkey as a business channel. It will also further improve a very successful partnership between BBC and Dogus Media Group.”
