BT launches Bollywood on-demand service

UK telco BT has launched a new on-demand service called 'Bolly & Beyond' on its IPTV service 'BT Vision', offering South Asian films, TV, music and children's programmes.

Subscribers can watch programmes on a pay-per-view basis or subscribe to the 'Bolly and Beyond' pack for unlimited access, costing GB£ 6.85 (US$ 11.2 per month. Content includes the latest Bollywood blockbusters such as 'Singh is Kinng', 'Luck' and 'Jodha Akbar', as well as classics such as 'Anand', 'Sumitra Sanyal', 'Ramesh Deo' and 'Amitabh Bachchan'.

The service also includes a selection of popular Indian TV shows, such as celebrity talk show 'Koffee with Karan', high-profile soaps such as 'Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu thi', cookery shows such as 'Khana Khazana' and family comedies such as 'Instant Khichdi'. There is also an area dedicated to children, offering titles such as the animated series 'Jungle Tales' and animated movies such as "Dashavtaa'.

BT added 38,000 net subscribers to its IPTV service 'BT Vision' in the second quarter of this year, bringing the total customer base to 433,000 by the end of June after adjusting for inactive customers.
