Cablecom extends digital service through Mexico

The Mexican cable operator Cablecom has launched digital TV services in eight states of the country, involving investment to the tune of $80 million for the installation of fibre optics and the purchase of decoders.
Javier Martinez Gonzalez, COO of Cablecom, confirmed to The Economist that in the coming weeks, the states of Mexico, Tlaxcala, Tamaulipas, Coahuila, Zacatecas, Veracruz, Tabasco and Campeche may access the services of the Digital 3.0 pay-TV digital interface.
“Capital was established with $ 60 million for the implementation of optical fiber, 10 million set-top boxes, plus another 10 million in infrastructure and development of technological capabilities of software unique to the company,” Martinez Gonzalez added.
