Colombia´s National Television Commission (CNTV) says it is open to receive bids and offers from companies interested in participating in its ´Free Social Satellite TV´ project, until January 31.
Local reports say that after Jan 31 a market research study will be conducted to determine the investment amount needed by the Government.
The project looks to offer TV coverage to 8% of the national territory that does not have the service yet, and is expected to benefit homes in 220 municipal towns. Designed and supported by CNTV, the project requires users to buy an antenna and set-top-box. The package will feature 15 channels, including public national and regional signals, and private national ones.
The successful bidder would be defined by May 2010 and deployment is scheduled to start two months after.
