DirecTV win for Ateme -
US broadcast giant DirecTV has selected Paris-based Ateme to supply its H.264 video compression system for DirecTV’s on-demand video service.
DirectTV hosts a library of more than 5000 SD and HD titles for its on-demand services, including content delivery via satellite and broadband internet access.
By switching to Ateme Kyrion File Encoder solution, DirectTV is also able to streamline its tapeless content production process, automating the encoding of its video content so that the whole process becomes seamless and putting DirectTV in more control over how and when this content is delivered to its subscribers. DirectTV can also accelerate content delivery to customers for any type of assets, from full HD quality down to low resolution applications.
“We are excited to be playing a key part in the delivery of DirecTV’s on-demand video service”, said Michel Artières, CEO of Ateme. “Our experience in developing advanced video compression solutions means that we can offer our customers efficiencies for delivery of their content, enabling them to regain more value from the content they hold.”
