Eurosport launches iPhone app -

Eurosport’s new iPhone application has found itself at the top of the download pops just days after its release.
Launched on July 30, the app features live results, breaking sports news coverage, player stats, standings and fixtures drawn from the broadcaster’s editorial team.
“We are very focused on building brand awareness and providing quality content across all media platforms,” said Laurent-Eric Le Lay, Eurosport chairman and CEO. “Sport and mobile are perfect partners and the iPhone application allows us to leverage the trust and reputation of the Eurosport brand and introduce our unique sports-entertainment offer into the vibrant mobile arena. It is a key part of our strategy to make our content available on all devices.”
So far the application has been downloaded over 100,000 times and is top of the download lists in France and Italy, and second in Spain and Germany. Available in nine languages, English, German, Spanish, Italian, French, Swedish, Polish, Russian and Chinese, it can also be customised to give prominence to the user’s favourite sports.
Eurosport’s iPhone application was designed by Backlight.
