IBC 2012: Prisa adds Apple core to Yomvi multiscreen service

Editor | 09-09-2012

Leading Spanish pay-TV and media group Prisa TV has broadened the availability of its Yomvi over the top (OTT) platform to support iOS devices.
The operator of the Canal+ Spain platform launched the Yomvi service in 2011 on hybrid set-top boxes and PCs, later making it available via telco Jazztels OTT streaming devices. In order to guarantee the security of the content running on Apple devices, the operator is using Nagras MediaLive Multiscreen. The solution includes Nagras MediaLive Service Platform for digital asset management and service delivery, Media Player and Persistent Rights Management.
Prisa TV continues to lead the multiscreen charge in Spain with the most advanced and comprehensive multiscreen offerings in the world, explained Jean-Michel Puiatti, Nagras vice-president of multiscreen products. Thanks to its broad coverage of content protected devices including PCs, tablets, smart phones and soon adding connected TVs and game consoles to their mix, Prisa TV is paving the way for a new generation of pay TV consumers through their ability to serve not only existing satellite subscribers but also new internet-only users.
Prisa is expected to further extend Yomvi to Android devices, Samsung Smart TVs and the Microsoft Xbox 360 console in the next few months.
