French production and distribution house Moonscoop is to develop with the French Federation of Tennis (FFT) and player Jo Wilfried Tsonga new animated series entitled Turboten.
Coproduced with French studio I Can Fly, already behind basket-skewed series The Basketeers in association with Tony Parker (Zodiak Media group, M6, Disney XD), this new animated property is conceived as a 360° brand.
FFT has already a branded Turboten dedicated children’s space at current tennis open Roland Garros 2012 in the RG Lab 2050 Zone. Publisher Indeez is also publishing a comic book to complement the series, and help grow awareness of the property in advance of the broadcast launch. The comic is a prequel to the television show.
The TV series, aimed at kids aged 6 and over, is an adventure comedy featuring two heroes called Sunny and Marina who are students at secret tennis school Turbo Centre. They are developing the extreme tennis skills needed to take part in global tournament Turboten.
