Microsoft and Canal+ Group have announced a major strategic partnership that will put the French pay-TV operator’s content across Microsoft’s various platforms.
Initially this means that the Xbox 360 will be enabled to receive the Canalplay VOD service and its Foot+ football offer. The one million owners of the Xbox in France will be able access some 6,000 titles, including 3,000 films, through the Zune video marketplace.
Also available to Canal+ subscribers that have signed up to Xbox Live are Canal’s popular shows
Le Grand Journal, +Clair, Dimanche+, and
Le Zapping. Coverage of top flight English, Spanish, German and Italian football is also available, in addition to access from the French Ligue 1 and Champions League.
Members will in addition be able to use the Xbox social networking features to comment on the coverage.
