Celeb theme park show coming to Watch

Monday, September 28 2009,

UKTV has announced that celebrities such as Katie Price and Phil Tufnell will soon appear in its new gameshow set in a theme park for pay TV channel Watch.

Presented by Blue singer Duncan James, Scream if You Know the Answer! will pit members of the public against celebrities in a "series of hilarious challenges" on rollercoasters for a 5,000 top prize.

Produced by Lion Television, filming for the ten-episode series will commence this week at the Thorpe Park attraction, including challenges on its major rides - Stealth, SAW - The Ride, Detonator and Tidal Wave. The show will premiere on UKTV's subscription channel Watch in early 2010.

"Scream if You Know the Answer! is a fantastic format to get the chance to make - it's warm, it's very play-along, and above all it's really funny," explained Lion Television executive producer Simon Welton.

"We've had great fun testing all the games to be played on the rides and I can't wait to see our contestants and celebrities give them a go wearing our special camera kit. Hopefully it'll make for a show that looks like nothing else on TV and becomes a real family favourite."

UKTV's director of entertainment commissioning Lisa Perrin said: "The thing I really love about Scream is that our celebrities get to ride too, so we can watch them and the contestants being pushed and pulled here, there and everywhere by huge G forces. With full access to legendary rides like SAW - The Ride, Stealth and Colossus, this is going to be Britain's most extreme game show ever."

Watch channel head Paul Moreton added: "In theory, the tasks we're getting our contributors to do are simple - but trying to complete them whilst upside down at 55mph and experiencing 4.7Gs is another thing. It's going to be hilarious and definitely must-see TV worth sharing with the rest of the family."
