France Télévisions business plan for the period 2009-2012 has been presented by President Patrick de Carolis to the board of administrators. Besides forecasting that around 900 people, out of 11,000, will early retire from the company between now and 2012, the group aims at reaching financial break even between 2011 and 2012.
Between 2009 and 2010, losses could reach €100 million according to various sources, before falling to €35 million. The progressive way towards a flat or positive balance sheet will be reached without any job cuts, the group stressed.
France Télévisions business plan bets on a regular growth of the group revenues so as to compensate for the prime-time ad ban. As negotiated with the French government, net revenues will rise 2.1% each year over the 2009-2012 period. But spend will be more controlled than ever, the group added, with priority given to programming (up 1.5% each year compared to 2.7% over the 2007-2010 period).
