Verizon adds Kodak widget to FiOS TV

Verizon has added a new Kodak widget to its pay-TV service 'FiOS TV', enabling subscribers to access online Kodak Gallery photos and slideshows on their TV screens.

The new widget gives registered Kodak Gallery users instant on-screen access to all the photos and slideshows they have stored on Kodak's online digital photo service, including photos from family and friends that have been linked to the subscriber's Kodak Gallery account. To access the new free service, susbcribers visit the FiOS TV Widget bazaar applications marketplace and use their remote control to click on the Kodak Gallery icon.

"Bringing your personal photos to life on your home-entertainment system takes your enjoyment to a much higher level," said Shawn Strickland, Vice President of Marketing for Verizon Telecom. "Every background and every person becomes larger than life. Plus, sharing photos with others becomes much more fun in the comfort of your family room. Our latest widget makes it easy to reach out and enjoy your KODAK Gallery photos on the biggest screen in your home - the TV. It's another interactive feature from Verizon that cable can't deliver."

Verizon added 300,000 subscribers to its pay-TV service 'FiOS TV' in the second quarter of this year to reach 2.5mn customers, with the company reporting that consumer demand for its wireless, broadband and video products in the period showed "resilience" despite the ongoing recession in the US.

FiOS TV currently offers over 500 linear channels, including more than 115 high-definition channels, and more than 15,000 VOD titles, as well as interactive services including an interactive media guide, news and entertainment widgets, remote DVR management, multi-room DVR and casual games. Linear content on the service is delivered via RF over its fibre-to-the-premises (FTTP) network, while interactive and on-demand services are delivered over the same network via IP.
