Poland's Netia to start IPTV trials this month
11.05.09
Polish alternative telco Netia will start trialling a new IPTV service later this month, according to local news portal Saktkurier, with commercial launch of the service expected for this autumn.
The telco will reportedly start trialling the service in cooperation with Polish DTH platform 'n', joining up with the latter in order to share the associated costs and risks of launching the new service, which will offer all channel packages available on the DTH platform, including high-definition channels. The service will initially be available in Warsaw and Wroclaw.
Meanwhile, incumbent Polish telco TPSA ended the first quarter of this year with 198,000 subscribers to its pay-TV services (delivered via IPTV and satellite), of which 112,000 subscribed to its recently-launched satellite TV service and 86,000 subscribed to its IPTV service 'Videostrada'.
