Racing UK comes to Ireland's Chorus ntl

Thursday, October 8 2009, 13:54 BST

By Andrew Laughlin,

Racing UK has announced that its main horseracing channel is now available as a standalone subscription offering in Ireland on Chorus ntl.

Available at position 411 on the Chorus ntl electronic programming guide, Irish viewers can subscribe to Racing UK for 25 (22.90) per month. Anyone signing up to the channel will also receive free race day tickets and member's packs.

Upcoming highlights on the channel include live coverage of the Champions Day Meeting at Newmarket on October 17 and the Breeders' Cup in early November.

"We are delighted to have Ireland's Chorus ntl on board, which means Racing UK now has potential reach to an additional 300,000 extra homes in Ireland," said Racing UK commercial director Nick Mills.

"The deal is hugely significant, as it means that Racing UK is now available across all platforms in the UK and Ireland."

Chorus ntl head of TV Simon Kelehan added: "Horseracing is a lifelong passion for many Irish viewers and we are excited to make Racing UK available to Chorus ntl customer providing live and exclusive access to the UK's premier racecourses, to complement our existing range of the top sporting channels."

Back in August, the horseracing channel restarted taking subscriptions in the UK after temporarily being offered on a free-to-air basis on Sky following the collapse of Setenta.
