Sony Bravia first Freeview HD TV available Monday

Sony Bravia has announced the imminent release of the first TVs to come loaded with a built-in Freview HD tuner, in plenty of time for this summer's football World Cup on BBC HD.

Sony claims three-quarters of its new Bravia HD TVs released this year will boast the subscription-free package, which is, so far, struggling to gain traction due to a lack of set-top boxes currently on the market.

The pick of the bunch appears to be the Network NX803, which comes with Wi-Fi functionality, allowing you to access IPTV services and also Sony's new Lovefilm widget, Skype and Bravia Internet Video, which allows viewers to catch-up on shows they've missed. It's also boasting a 'monolithic design', 200Hz Motionflow tech and LED Backlit panels ranging from 40 and 52-inches in size.

The Cinematic HX803, which also claims to be HD 3D-ready but has no network access, and the Essential EX703, which will boast the Wi-Fi, 100Hz Motionflow and a range of energy saving eco features, complete the range. Both tellies come in 40 and 46-inch models.

The big news here though, is the arrival of the first Freeview HD TVs to these shores, with the World Cup just a few short months away. Rumour has it that footballer Wayne Bridge has already pre-ordered a 52-inch NX803.
