Studio 100 Media's Maya the Bee flies onto Disney Junior Asia

Louise Duffy | 03-12-2013

Studio 100 Media, the media sales division of family entertainment company Studio 100, has finalised a deal with Disney Junior Asia for its new children's CGI series Maya The Bee.

Produced by Paris-based Studio 100 Animation SAS in association with TF1 and ZDF Maya The Bee (78 x 12') is set to premiere on Disney Junior Asia on 1 January 2014. The series will air daily at 7am and 12pm in Brunei, Cambodia, East Timor, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, The Maldives, Mongolia, Myanmar, The Republic of Palau, Papua New Guinea, The Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Hong Kong and Macau.

Targeted at pre-schoolers and a family audience, the series is a modern rejuvenation of the classic brand Maya the Bee which sees Maya and her friends, Flip and Willy break free from their hive to seek adventure in the big wide world steeped with magic and mystery.

The original animated TV series of the same name celebrated its television premiere in Germany in September 1976 and has been broadcast by various national and international TV stations. The basis for the popular series was the worldwide bestseller by Waldemar Bonsels which was first published in 1912 and has since been translated into 40 languages.

The new CGI series has already been sold into 150 territories worldwide.
