AETN adds multi-platform to Foxtel deal

Rose Major

A&E Television Networks has renewed its representation deal with Australian digital-TV platform Foxtel, and will also pass multi-platform distribution responsibility for the region onto the pay-TV provider.

Foxtel will continue to operate History, Crime & Investigation and Bio across the Australia and New Zealand region but will also handle feeds to mobiles and video-on-demand platforms. At the moment, AETN programming is available through the Foxtel Push download-to-DVR video-on-demand service as well as Telstra Mobile by Foxtel.

Programme sales in the region will also be handled by Foxtel.

Sean Cohan, the senior VP for international at AETN, said: Foxtels execution married with our content and brands has proved a winning combination, and today, AETNs brands are ranked the top-performing factual brands on the platform. We look forward to continued success and growth in our partnership, including jointly launching more services.

Brian Walsh, the executive director of television and marketing for Foxtel, said: That weve been able to extend our relationship with AETN, who already provide us with a raft of premium programming, is a terrific testament to Foxtels factual unit ,which is now open for the distribution business in Australia and New Zealand.
