Broadcom’s cable modem silicon has been granted certification by the boards representing both EuroDOCSIS 3.0 and DOCSIS 3.0, the first silicon provider to be deemed compliant by both European and US boards.
The silicon in question is that supporting Broadcom’s BCM3380 series of cable solutions, capable of bonding up to eight downstream channels and up to four upstream channels.
“Our goal with the BCM3380 silicon family of data and voice modems is to enable the highest performing and most cost-optimised DOCSIS 3.0 and EuroDOCSIS 3.0 solutions,” said Jay Kirchoff, Senior Director of Product Marketing for Broadcom’s Cable Modem line of business. “As the only globally compliant solution, we see operators around the world taking advantage of the significant increase in download speeds offered by our eight channel solution.”
Certification was awarded for EuroDOCSIS 3.0 in EuroCertWave 34 and DOCSIS 3.0 certification in CertWave 65 with customer submitted data and voice modems.
