Canal to help Swiss DTH viewers

Canal+ has asked its Swiss DTH customers, who lost reception of the CanalSat and Canal+ via satellite due to contractual reasons, to come forward. On a special website, these viewers can fill in their contact details. The operator will work hard to find a legal solution that allows you to continue to enjoy the programming.

Earlier this year, Canal switched off all the cards known to be outside of France, because the operator does not own the DTH rights outside French territory. It is believed many viewers, notably in Belgium and Switzerland, use a French mailing address to circumvent this rule.

Other European DTH platforms have the same issues, e.g. BSkyB, Premiere and Canal Digitaal Satelliet. Many expats want to continue to receive the channels from home when they live overseas. However, contractual obligations with most studios prohibit such cross border reception.
