Berlin’s World Athletics Championships has led to very good ratings for public service networks France 2 and France 3, with live broadcasts of around 50 hours of the event.
An average of 3 million viewers, which is 17.7% of the public, followed the main events each day, broadcast on France 3 between 7:55pm and 9:30pm. France 2’s live broadcasts gathered 1.8 million people (17.5% of the viewers) between 5:55pm and 7:55pm. Peaks at 22.4% marketshare and 26.1%, were even noticed when sprinter Usain Bolt broke twice his own records in the 100 and 200 metre sprint finals. French medals also offered higher ratings.
France 2’s summer programming line-up was positive for the broadcaster, as the network’s market share in July sat at 19.1%, up a considerable 3.8% compared to last June.
