Viaccess, a France Telecom company, leader in conditional access and SMIT, the well-known supplier of Viaccess CAMs today announced the support for Common Interface+ (CI+) on Conditional Access Modules (CAMs). A demonstration of Viaccess CI+ commitment with both partners will be displayed during the IBC 09 Forum (Sept 11- Sept 15, Booth 1.A51).

The founders of the CI+ forum and CAM manufacturers are driving market development of the new CI+ standard that implements both a sophisticated protection mechanism between the CAM and the digital television receiver as well as advanced interactive capabilities. CI+ adds essential user experience and significantly enhanced security means to the DVB-CI standard, being richer user interface controlled by the operator, strong copy-protection for HDTV, and numerous tools to maintain a vertical control on devices accesses.

Integration of our conditional access technology combined with SMIT experience in CI+ technology results in an appealing CI+ solution for the demanding operators, said Franois Moreau de Saint Martin, VIACCESS CEO. Operators will benefit of extra security for their high value premium contents, increased customer loyalty and increased revenues streams by offering more attractive and interactive services.

After the extremely successful experience in Boxer's iDTV market together with Viaccess , SMiT is honored to provide the advanced CI+ CAM solution with Viaccess. Based on the latest chipset 1660, the new solution more than enhances the content protection security, but also provides the value-added services like PVR/VOD, to meet the market demanding requirements., said Stephen He, Vice President of SMiT.
