TM or Eagle? - 27-October-2009, 19:40

Hi all,
New to this board, I have a TM 6900+ super, which I patch at the moment, also Diablo, Dragon cams.
Really confused about CS, Can the TM be set up easily or is it simpler to buy an Eagle Linux box to use in conjunction with the TM ,or am I way off kilter?
I can't see a section for Eagle boxes on the board.
I know this is a bit of a minefield and don't want to ask the wrong question (have only just joined) Can someone help or point me to a usefull stickie.
Many thanks,
Tim.

The eagle runs very similar to the DM500 and is easly setup for CS.

Eagle boxes are discussed a little in the other box section.

The only disadvantage you will have is that you won't get HD and won't be able to record to a harddrive.

Don't think sharing with the TM is easy.

Have a look at the TM600 similar price to the Eagle but with HDD capacity.

Yep I have a TM 6900 + Super, but I can't work how to CS with it. Is the Eagle a stand alone box or do I run it through the TM?
Cheers,
Tim.

If you are serious about CS forget about your current TM box and look at getting a new box.

There is loads to read here and lots of helpful people to guide you through.

no sharing possible on tm6900 . Eagle box is ideal for sharing . Limitations are no HD and no hard drive is able to be fitted ; although you could set up Ngrab to record direct to your pc's hard drive. A good image to flash onto the eagle is pli jade 3 . Packed with features and easy to get on with. Only other drawback really with the eagle is the ability to act as a server. It has limited memory so really wouldnt want to go above 30 shares with it . If budget no problem invest in a dm800 clone for about 200. HD on it standard and loads of different images available. Again only drawback is serving ability ' limits are at around the 30 peer mark to remain stable. Hope this helps a little.

TM or Eagle .... go for a TM600 if on a limited budget, CS is no problem and you won't suffer from the dreaded clone bomb as you could do with an Eagle ..

or if you hve the cash ..go for the DM800

Your current 6900 can be used as a newcamd client only. If you get a eagle or a tm500/600 which both run on enigma1 and are sd will allow you to be a server and client on CCcam which is the most used share emu used as a newbie.

Blimey, I have just bought the TM, because of the HD and access to CS. I am a real novice, and a lot of the above means nothing to me. But that was what it was like when I first discovered the sat scene.

I am used to setting up Technomates, but not the linux models. Is it as easy as the Eagle to set up?
Many thanks,
Tim
