I have put a 400GB 3.5in Maxtor drive in the TM9100, it worked first time.

Certainly there is more memory in the Super, I am not sure what else.

Yes its just the memory thats increased, but if you do use third party images on MMC or HDD then you can setup a swap file and you will find that there is hardly any difference between TM9100 super and the standard

Question 24-October-2007, 13:44

So would I be correct in saying that a 9100 non super fitted with a HDD is just as good as a 9100 super?

Nothing beats the dreambox I have had this box its not worth the cheap price they offer.
Reboot, reboot, reboot and so many beta firmwares.
Only darkman and his bum pals love it.
LOL

hahahaha not strictly true regarding reboots reboots ... the other may well be true :)

anyway, using the right image will ensure stability ..with Original09 in flash and Ur009b2 firmware on Iboot mine was rock solid ..not a reboot for weeks .... the only tim eit did reboot was when i rebooted it ...
The main thing is finding the best image to use ... there are plenty of images out there some good Ur009b2 some not so good Ur010b4 ... the latest UKUr image is very good.

HDD functionality works well and with a HDD and the swap file set as 64mb then it does everything a super can

I have been let down on 4 occasions with dreambox hardware and software failures in my 7020s.
Quality does not swing it with me on this one. Add to that HMSAT/DMM taking 9 weeks to do 15minute repairs is laughable. Crap.

I have been using the new ukur image with gbox for the last week without ANY freezes or reboots.
I have to admit that I actually like the near-weekly beta type releases (i run a 'non-experimental TripleDragon as gbox server) as it give me something to play with. I have the non-super and think that for 100 is is the absolute biz........

isn't every image a beta image by its very nature ? These images are constantly evolving as time goes on they get better and better ..I've had my TM now for about 5 months, quite happily doing c/s through it and not a moments interruption .. sure it may not have the same support structure as dreambox with regards to images ... but look at the positives and look at what it can do ...the future is bright :)
