Unhappy Problem with sasc-ng - 04-May-2011, 21:53

Following the instructions in http://dolot.kipdola.com/wiki/Install_SASC-NG I got a problem:

#sasc-ng
May 4 20:43:29.145 : Didn't find any DVB adapters!

# lsmod | grep dvb
dvbloopback 15024 0
dvb_core 74634 1 dvbloopback

#grep -se dvbloopback /proc/modules
dvbloopback 15024 0 - Live 0xffffffffa0c06000
dvb_core 74634 1 dvbloopback, Live 0xffffffffa0be8000

# ls -la /dev/dvb
total 0
drwxr-xr-x 5 root root 100 May 4 20:02 .
drwxr-xr-x 15 root root 3440 May 4 20:03 ..
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 280 May 4 20:02 adapter0
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 280 May 4 20:02 adapter1
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 280 May 4 20:02 adapter2

Everything look like fine I don't know why I got that error. I google it, some links but no good information about that. I'm using Debian 6.0, kernel 2.6.32-5-amd64.

Any idea?

PS: I'm newbie, this is my first post.
Thanks in advance.

Can you play free-to-air channels?
You can check dmesg to see if there is a problem with your card.
To play free-to-air channels:
http://linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/Te...our_DVB_device

I am personally trying to get the dvbloopback module working in linux kernel 2.6.38, which I am not very successful at. It works fine on kernel 2.6.35

Ok, here is the thing. I'm very new in this world. I read a lot of thing but still don't know some details so maybe I not understand something. I not have card. I setup a cccam server successfully but I need to setup some client to watch. I want try with MythTv in my Debian. I don't know what to do because the tutorials and FAQ have a lot of missing information for people who really start from the beginning.

I would like find a way to setup a client, try first with free-to-air channels and after get in the others things.

Thanks of any help.

I meant PCI DVB card, I realize now that this can easily be confused with smartcards, especially since this place is called eurocardsharing :)

I agree about the tutorials, most of them are also outdated. It took me a few weeks to find out that only the sasc-ng version from the vdr repository is working, while i was trying to get the outdated open-sasc-ng working. The one in your link is the correct version and works fine on my (Ubuntu) system with kernel 2.6.32 and 2.6.35.
The link from my previous post is only slightly outdated :)

To play free-to-air channels, you don't need sasc-ng and cccam. You can play free-to-air channels through your sasc-ng loopback device to test if your setup works correctly, but you should first get free-to-air channels working without sasc-ng (imho)

In your original post, you don't give any arguments to sasc-ng. Did you leave them out?
You should run something like:
sasc-ng --join 0:2 --cam-budget --cam-dir /[path to folder that contains cardclient.conf]

P4 Ubuntu 10.04 cardserver with Smargo and CCcam 2.1.2
Core 2 Quad Ubuntu 11.04 with two budget-DVB-C and MythTV
Dreambox 500 C (Clone)
Dreambox 800 with cable tuner (Clone)

I have to ask because I'm lost here. I know what you mean with PCI-DVB, I had a USB some years ago. The point is that I have not any Dish, neither DVB card. So the question is I can get the signal from somebody else on internet?? I understand that, but maybe I understand wrong.

Thanks again
