EPG Recommendations - 17-March-2010, 14:26

I have a DM800HD Clone with Gemini 4.4 Image and I also have a DM500S Clone with PLI Jade Image flashed.

I've played around with a few EPG's but am yet to discover how I can store download and store 7 days worth of programming into the internal memory. On one of the EPG's I can scan the channels but it only seems to give me data for programs on NOW and NEXT. The questions I have are:

*What plugin/addon would you recommend for each of my machines?
*Do i need a USB memory stick or internal hard drive to store large amounts of EPG data
*Anyone have any links to useful tutorials on how I would go about setting this up?

Damn!! Not good news, but if that's the case it's not the end of the world.

Rytec XMLTV

http://www.rytec.be/

How to install and configure xmltv-import on Enigma2 Pli-images :

When you have installed OpenPli on your box, you can go to Applications, press the green button. Then you'll see a menu, go to extensions and look for xmltv-importer.
Press enter or OK button to start the installation. Now you have the latest version installed, restart Enigma and go to applications and you will notice the label "EPGImport".
Now go into this program, there are some options but first we press blue button to go to the sources. Here you can select with the OK button which EPG data you like to download.
Press green button to save this selection. Now we are back into the first menu where we can change the time when the plugin should start. Do not set this time before 04:00am because I create the EPG data just before 04:00am.
If your box is in deep-standby you could wake it up to start the automatic download, and you can set the amount of days for full descriptions.
Could be helpful if you have selected a lot of epg sources and your box has not much memory you could set this days on 5, so the epg data is loaded for 5 full days + 2 days.
Do not forget to save this config by pressing green button, then you will be prompted to the applications menu.
If you can't wait untill the automatic import, which I can imagine ;), you can go into the EPGImport panel and press the yellow button for a manual download, you will be asked if you agree by pressing OK.
Now you will see in the main window the amount of events it is processing.
You can press exit to go back to the application panel, it's not needed to wait untill the import is finished.

How to install xmltv-import on Enigma2 NON-Pli-images :

After the installation of another Enigma2 image (Gemini, Ozoon, Newnigma, LT) you have to install a few more files in this image. Download the file python_ipks.zip above and unzip it on your computer.
Also download the latest file enigma2-plugin-extensions-xmltvimport_x.x-rxx_mipsel.ipk to your computer.
Use for example DCC to connect to your dreambox. Then copy the following files to the folder /tmp on your dreambox :
python-zlib_2.5.1-ml4_mipsel.ipk
python-compression_2.5.1-ml4_mipsel.ipk
python-shell_2.5.1-ml4_mipsel.ipk
python-html_2.5.1-ml4_mipsel.ipk
enigma2-plugin-extensions-xmltvimport_1.0-rxx_mipsel.ipk
For Gemini users ; go to blue panel in Gemini and select filemanager, browse to the folder /tmp and select first the python-zlib file and press the green button to install this package.
Next we select the python-compression for installation then python-html, then python-shell, then we select the xmltv-import plugin and install it too.
After the installation download the latest rytec.sources.xml file from here, unzip and copy it to the folder /etc/epgimport on your box.
Now restart Enigma2 and you should be able to activate the EPGimport through the applications panel.
For other users who do not have a filemanager in their image, they can make a Telnet session to the box and install the ipk's by using the command "ipkg install /tmp/python-zlib_2.5.1-ml4_mipsel.ipk"

Im not sure if its the same for PLI Jade.

A USB memory stick would be good. on internal hard drive it would keep running no time for standby.

or change image to Dream-Elite Black Hole 1.0 which has it built in from the start, you would need to find the patched image for clones

Im not very good at How to's, i end up making a mistake so i use Dream-Elite Black Hole 1.0

Rytec-SKYUK is 4 day epg
Satmate_sky.UK is 7 day epg

its up to you
good luck

Are you talking about multiG epg?

They are many ways but i do it a different way, bring up the channel list press info on the channel you what to know about. see whats on today and the next day etc

Press info again to see what the programe is all about and add a timer.
