Is it possible to run MKV files with DTS audio or do I need additional audio component for this?

Question Need software to archive DVD's - 31-August-2009, 17:51

I have DM800 with Freecom 1TB eSata external hard drive. Works great with HD programs recorded from TV and original DVD's converted using VLC. However trying to convert some of my own TV programs recorded onto DVD's does not work very well with jittery playback. I bought Cucusoft Ultimate DVD Converter but get the same results.
Can anyone recommend suitable software.

This all depends on the GNU/Linux "distribution" (image...) of your Dreambox. Although it is theoretically possible, my guess is that your image will only recognize the Linux (ext3?) partition.

I read it only supports FAT, ext2 and ext3 partitions, which seems logical for a simple linux kernel.
My DM800 crashes when I try to initialise a USB stick, so haven't tried all yet.
I'll first update the drivers, and try other images.
Does anybody know if you can also control the HD if it's an eSata disk ?
Once I get it working, I plan to buy an eSata disk, but how can I stop the disk when it's idle if it needs external power ? Is that done over the eSata link, or does it need the USB conection for that ?

Problem with mounting a internal disc - 20-October-2009, 13:09

Hi all.

We have tryed several times to mount a internal disc (WD Blue 2,5 320GB) into my dm800.
It running on:
Linux version 2.6.12-5.1-brcmstb-dm800 (tux@tux)
Image Version: dev-2009-07-16
Enigma Version: D2009.07.16.13.43.41-Jul 16 2009

First i tryed to init it from device managern, but it dident work out so good.
There were no mount button after the init...
We tryed it from the (telnet session) and no success.
But when we did the disc partition smaler (100gb) it worked.
They are formated as:
Disk /dev/hda: 320.0 GB, 320072933376 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 38913 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes

Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/hda1 1 12767 102550896 83 Linux
/dev/hda2 12768 25534 102550927+ 83 Linux
/dev/hda3 25535 37693 97667167+ 83 Linux
root@dm800:/#

Then they are mounted:
/dev/hda3 on /media/hdd/pictures type ext3 (rw)
/dev/hda1 on /media/hdd/movie type ext3 (rw)
/dev/hda2 on /media/hdd/music type ext3 (rw)

In fstab it says:
rootfs / auto defaults 1 1
proc /proc proc defaults 0 0
devpts /dev/pts devpts mode=0620,gid=5 0 0
usbdevfs /proc/bus/usb usbfs defaults 0 0
/dev/mtdblock/2 /boot jffs2 ro 0 0
tmpfs /var tmpfs defaults 0 0
tmpfs /tmp tmpfs defaults 0 0
/dev/hda1 /media/hdd/movie ext3 defaults 1 1
/dev/hda2 /media/hdd/music ext3 defaults 1 1
/dev/hda3 /media/hdd/pictures ext3 defaults 1 1
root@dm800:/#

No to the problem:
Under device i can see (Primay master) partition(s) 3
device /dev/hda
Device: /dev/hda1 size: 100 gb Mountpoint : /media/hdd/movie
and the same for the the other....
But the recording and the files transferd to the box is not recorded on the disc!!! instead is recorded in the memory...
Under hardware/device i can see a total sice of 154mb and that is shrinking rapidly.

What should i change to make the recording and ftp files land on the harddrive?
Please help out

Mount the drive to /media/hdd (not /media/hdd/movie)
And make sure there's a directory called "movie" on the drive before you start recording......
