high ecm's with ubuntu - 14-January-2011, 20:14

I'm using ubuntu karmic minimal with newcs and two ominkey card readers. I have my own local 0963 card and am not sharing externally. The pc i am using in an acer revo. I have a dreambox which connects as a client through cccam (n line) and the dreambox works without problems.

However on acer revo I have problems. I use a program called tvheadend which has a newcs client and even though this is the same pc as the newcs sever is on, the tvheadend program occasionally gets high ecm's. This results in video glitches. Ecm's can be 95ms and then suddenly jump to 600ms and them jump back to 95ms.

Yet the dreambox does not seem to get any high ecm's and have never seen it get video glitches.

My question is, does anyone know any ubuntu processes that can cause high ecm's?

I have older and newer versions than karmic and they all seem to have the same problem.

just guessing here but i think this is a tvheadend problem. if possible try to use cccam with tvheadend. pain to compile and preload but could fix your problems

I'm seeing really high ecm usage with mythtv+sasc using the cccam2 protocol.
himself, are you saying the socket+chroot method might be better?
