Remote not working on HVR-4000 - 02-December-2008, 00:31

Hi, shalafi! Thanks for your guide!

I'm running Kubuntu 8.10 and I have everything up and running fine (channels are working) except for the remote.

I've tried using -P'remote -i /dev/input/by-path/pci-0000:01:06.2--event-ir' and vdr continues to the 'press up' screen. But pressing 'up' doesn't trigger the learning.

I'm starting vdr directly with:
vdr -P sc -P'remote -i /dev/input/by-path/pci-0000:01:06.2--event-ir' -P'xineliboutput -l sxfe -V xv'

I can see the remote is working by pressing the mute button, and in bash up/down scrolls through the list of commands.

I suspect that somehow Kubuntu takes ownership of the remote and blocking vdr from gaining access.

I've also tried with lircd, but again, it seems like Kubuntu keeps ownership.

Any ideas?

vdr remote with ubuntu - 05-December-2008, 00:40

Finally got VDR to work - after serveral hours of frustration, anyway VDR seems pretty good to use.

couple of problems

I have the same problem with the remote not working

its seems ubuntu os is accepting although very slowly some of the keys like the numbers work on a console and vol + and vol down set volume up/down. any ideas on this?
Have to use keyboard for now.

Also encrypted channels (am using a newcamd server) sometime take several minutes to clear from first switch on but then appear in seconds when i change channels quickly.

At this time some FTA channels not coming on straight away also

Code:
checking for FFMPEG... yes
checking for AVUTIL... yes
checking for FFMPEG_POSTPROC... configure: error: Package requirements (libpostproc) were not met:

No package 'libpostproc' found

Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you
installed software in a non-standard prefix.

Alternatively, you may set the environment variables FFMPEG_POSTPROC_CFLAGS
and FFMPEG_POSTPROC_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config.
See the pkg-config man page for more details.

Can You help with this?

hi,

thanks for this great tutorial. i had tried many times to install vdr with no luck. with this was pretty straight forward, i didn't have any problem on compiling and installing everything.

However, i need your help at the last step.

when i run

********
vdr-sxfe --video=xv --aspect=16:9 --fullscreen --width=1280 --height=720 --nokbd --post=tvtime:method=Linear,cheap_mode=1,pulldown=0, use_progressive_frame_flag=1
********

vdr-sxfe starts without any error reported, but then it says "no signal"

I've ran this command to get my channels.conf

**************
scan -o vdr /home/servidor/.kde/share/apps/kaffeine/dvb-s/Astra-19.2E >> channels.conf
***************

and "scan" has found channels. I then put "channels.conf" in /etc/vdr/ folder. When i start the program it appers the name of the first channel on the list, so i guess the channels.conf is OK, but the card doesn't seem to get any signal

what am i doing wrong?

my card is lifeview pci trio (saa7134) and i'm using ubuntu as well. it works great with kaffeine and simple "scan" from commandline. When i run vdr the module saa7134 is already loaded as it loads normally when the machine boots.

i compiled vdr 1.7 on multiproto drivers which are located at /usr/local/src/multiproto-855d0c878944/ , but i didn't run "make install" . So... actually... if i understand well... vdr is compiled on multiproto but the modules running are those which came with my kernel 2.6.24-22-generic. Is this a problem? Should i run "make install" within the multiproto path to fully use the "new modules"?

Also, if you could tell me how to manage vdr... i mean, with that order "vdr-sxfe" you used, i get the black screen with the message "no signal" and nothing else. I guess there must be a menu or something or some shortcuts from keyboard to zap, for example. I don't have the remote, so it's only the keyboard and no key seems to do anything to vdr-sxfe, no menu apperars... nothing. I'm sorry if ths is very basic stuff, but i've looked through the documentation on their website but couldn't find anything, it only talks about the keys on the remote.

Thanks.

Hi

Thanks for a great tutorial.

Im struggling with compiling Xineliboutput from cvs, in the beginning I get these errors when it starts:

Creating config.mak ...
xine/vo_hook.c:23:4: error: #error xine-lib VIDEO_OUT_DRIVER_IFACE_VERSION != 21
xine/vo_hook.c:23:4: error: #error xine-lib VIDEO_OUT_DRIVER_IFACE_VERSION != 21

but it continues compiling until I get this error msg:

gcc -g -O2 -Wall -fPIC -c -D_GNU_SOURCE -DPLUGIN_NAME_I18N='"xineliboutput"' -D_REENTRANT -D_LARGEFILE_SOURCE -D_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64 -DXINELIBOUTPUT_VERSION='"1.0.90-cvs"' -Wall -I/usr/local/src/liplianindvb/linux/include -I../../../include -o xine/vo_hook.o
gcc: no input files
make: *** [xine/vo_hook.o] Error 1

and here Im stuck. Do you/anyone have any suggestion ?

In advance, thanks..

what exactly is the difference cccam and vdr-sc? aren't they both emus? why do I need to install both of them? Which one is capable to solve "eutelsat w3" pay channels?

CCcam is a general Cam program, this runs on things like dreamboxes. It also runs on a PC, but mainly as a server. Ie, you would connect multiple dreamboxes to your PC to share your own card (or shares) with all your dreamboxes. The dreambox will send off a request, CCcam will answer it from it's own card, send back the result to the CCcam application running on the dreambox, you can watch the channel.

vdr-sc is a VDR plugin which allows you to use various types of cams to decode channels in VDR. (if you like a middle program). With it you can connect to a gbox or CCcam server (although connecting to CCcam is more fiddly - and as CCcam wasn't designed with VDR in mind, a bit of a kludge).

Gentoo Linux - Nexus-s, Linux VDR - 2 x ATSC HD cards, Hauppauge PVR 500 for analog US Cable, 3 x Hauppauge MVP's running Vomp on VDR, UK TV on IPTV.

Not a single sat dish at the moment. :-(
