Sorry but no. This takes to much time to get it working for me. Besides, it's my intention to give this information to the public instead of keeping it to myself. This way you somebody else could use this tutorial and spread it to other sites as well.

Not needed. As stated in the beginning, S2API is part of Kernel 2.6.28+ and there for part of Xubuntu 9.04. It even has the correct firmware in place allready. If not, try to manually install Igor's repo and change/update the firmware using my other tutorial.

I have HVR-4000, it has two frontends : one for DVB-S/S2 and the second for DVB-T.
I can see DVB-S channels in VDR, but how to get DVB-T too ?

Thank you.

Very good guide. I have read your previous guides and JackBlow's at dvbn. I have also built a vdr ubuntu based box the last days and I have some issues (I don't use VDPAU for now, though I have an 8400GS as well - I am trying to test the software only decoding)

On every channel change, the first seconds I get a slow-motion video stream without audio, which then fast forwards to catch up with the audio. After that, the stream is in sync, until next channel change. I have an HVR-4000 and a Technotrend S2-3200. This happens on both cards, in encoded or FTA channels. Do you experience any similar problems?
I have also tried libxineoutput plugin. This doesn't have the slow-motion/fast-forward problem, but I have some scaling problems with it (video is very ugly - like that it has been resized to smaller resolution or something) and in 1080i HD streams it performs much worse than vdr-xine.

My second issue is that in many H.264 HD channels (for example MTVN HD in Hotbird), xine cannot scale the decoding to both cpu cores, thus dropping frames. I run a Core2Duo ar 3GHz and you see that one core is 90-95% utilized when the other one is only 10-20%.

What advantages the remote plugin offers? vdr already supports lirc natively (I am using native lirc support with an imon remote)

My system is ubuntu 9.04 with karmic kernel 2.6.30 (for alsa 1.0.20), intel 2.7.1 xorg driver from x-updates PPA (for better G45 support), core2duo 3GHz, 2GB RAM, G45 motherboard, Hauppauge HVR-4000 and Technotrend S2-3200 DVB adapters.

I think that if you populate your channels.conf with DVB-T channels, they will be used.

w_scan can scan DVB-C, DVB-T and DVB-S/S2 channels. You can get it at
