mythbuntu 9.10 hvr 4000 sasc-ng help me please - 29-October-2010, 08:32

Hi all, I need your help.

I'm a newbie in linux .... but still, I would like to mount a linux htpc ....

I decided to try Mythbuntu ... but all are problems.

Let me explain ....

The main problem I encounter is my capture card, a HVR 4000 ... not that reasons (multi) does not let me scan ...

seems to be that applying patches get it to run .... in Mythbuntu ubuntu 8.04 or 9.10 (always with the clean version)

But the problem is to add such as the SASC-ng plugin I want to work with mbox (by facilitate) to communicate with other HTPC's that I will ride below ....

to mount the SASC-ng use this manual

h*tp://dolot.kipdola.com/wiki/Install_SASC-NG

and to set up my card in Ubuntu 8.04 use this manual

http://h**p://madremiamadremiaque.bl...wintv-hvr.html

or this manual clean install Mythbuntu 9.10

h**p://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1320944

but when I compile the SASC-ng plugin gives me a FATAL ERROR ... it says that my driver has Symbology strange or something ....

I only miss a couple of things ... so I ask your help ...

Thank you all for reading at least

and many more thanks for helping

first off you should check linuxtv.org to see how to get your card running (firmware needs to be updated). Second you should post some more exact error log. i guess your problem is that sasc can not be compiled with the kernel you are running (might also be an i386 -AMD64 issue- so also mention that). I can assure you that sasc is running with ubuntu 9.10. introduce yourself, come up with details and you'll get the needed answers!

I first make a clean install of Mythbuntu 9.10

So far so good ...

then install the drivers for the HVR 4000 from the link mentioned and I can scan my Freeview channels on sat still have not tried not to disturb my family.

Third install the SASC-ng as is the manual (above) ... but I get errors ...

I just did a clean install again ...

now I'll post my doubts go according to

hi good am having problems installing the SASC-ng.

when I have to run ". / configure - dvb-dir = / path / to / driver" which way should I make if I use the v4l-dvb driver-20100517 page explains the LinuxTV for hvr4000

all in Mythbuntu 9.10.

I can scan channels ... and you see the lock ... now I only need it for SASC-ng

The way you configure it (with dvb-dir) it will use your own-made driver.
Try this:
./configure --compiletype=release --shared --optimize=long

Can you be more specific ....

I explain:

if I install the driver hvr 4000 with the S2-liplianin the Mythbuntu not show me my capture (error), but sai sascng install it.
On the other hand if I install the v4l drivers hvr4000 with ... the Mythbuntu recognizes me, but I find the problem the patch is in the SASC-ng, deuelve me an error about not finding the driver.

I put parcticamente the same route with the s2-liplianin, but I find it ...

So my question .... Could you be more specific

Hi Xino,

as far as i understand you only have a HVR 4000. That means you have no other drivers but the stock ones that come with the ubuntu release (You only changed firmware which has no influence on the DVB-Drivers).

That means you must configure sasc without the dvb-dir option. here step by step instruction:
Code:
sudo -i
cd dir/to/sc/contrib/sasc-ng
chmod +x configure
chmod +x dvbloopback/module/config_dvb.pl
./configure
make module
make
if that goes ok (no compile errors) you have to create the directory sc_files
Code:
mkdir sc_files
nano cardclient.conf <- opens a editor
cccam2:IP.or.DNS.ofserver:port:1:username:password
now load the dvbloopback drivers manually and start sasc:
Code:
insmod dvbloopback.ko
./sasc-ng -j 0:1
that should give you some output on the screen. sasc is now loaded and you have to use the virtual adapter 1 in myth setup

hope this helps!

here is a nice tutorial on how to automate sasc at system boot: http://dolot.kipdola.com/wiki/Install_SASC-NG
